In this review, Chris Harris tests the Porsche 992.1 Carrera S at Hockenheimring, examining whether the new 992-generation 911 still feels like a true sports car. The updated model is larger, faster, and more efficient, but retains the familiar 911 driving position and character.

The Carrera S produces 444 hp from its turbocharged flat-six engine and delivers strong performance with a smooth PDK transmission. On track, the steering feels precise and well-weighted, and the car remains agile despite its increased size. The engine sounds surprisingly natural for a turbocharged unit and provides performance close to higher-end models.

Inside, the new interior blends classic 911 cues—like the central analog tachometer—with modern screens and improved materials. Practical touches such as small rear seats and usable storage remain, reinforcing its everyday usability.

Harris concludes the 992 is not a radical redesign but a smart evolution of the previous generation, combining comfort, usability, and performance. While it’s more refined than older 911s, it still delivers engaging handling and personality, confirming it remains a genuine sports car.
