This video features the owner of a Porsche 993 GT2 Evo discussing the experience of racing one of Porsche’s most extreme air-cooled competition cars. Originally built for GT racing and later prepared by a private team, the car has been campaigned successfully in historic racing, winning multiple championships and class victories, including endurance events and historic series titles.
Powered by a twin-turbocharged flat-six in either 3.6- or 3.8-liter configuration, the GT2 Evo can produce up to 700 horsepower unrestricted, though race regulations often limit output to around 550 horsepower using air restrictors. Weighing roughly 1,150 kg, the car delivers strong acceleration and high-speed performance, especially on fast circuits.
On track, the rear-engine layout dominates the driving experience, with a rear-biased weight distribution that produces natural understeer and requires careful balance in corners. Despite this, the car remains stable at high speed and is particularly effective through fast sections. The powerful brakes are a standout feature, providing strong stopping performance and confidence under heavy braking.
