Listed for sale on Collecting Cars, this Porsche 911 SC is a highly individualized air-cooled build transformed into the RWB ‘Porco Rosso,’ featuring the distinctive Café Racer wide-body conversion personally installed by renowned RWB founder Akira Nakai. The transformation was completed in November 2023 and represents an especially rare specification, as the seller states this is the only example outside Japan equipped with the now-discontinued RWB Café Racer Kit.
Originally delivered to North America, this left-hand-drive 911 SC was exported from California to Australia in 2008, according to its Carfax history. Before its RWB conversion, the Porsche served as a Targa road-rally car and retains its CAMS logbook documenting that earlier configuration, complete with Akira Nakai’s signature.
At the heart of the build is a 3.6-liter high-compression naturally aspirated flat-six, upgraded with individual throttle bodies, velocity stacks, and aftermarket headers. The engine drives the rear wheels through a rebuilt five-speed Porsche 915 manual transmission equipped with shorter gearing designed to sharpen acceleration and enhance the car’s mechanical character.
The chassis has been substantially reworked to complement the engine upgrades. KW suspension provides the foundation for the revised handling package, while 930 Turbo brakes deliver increased stopping capability. The car sits on official RWB wheels, completing the aggressive visual stance created by the Café Racer wide-body treatment.
Inside, the cabin has been extensively stripped and reconfigured around performance use. A fully welded roll cage dominates the interior, with black carpeting and trim modified around the additional structure. Seating is provided by carbon-fiber seats sourced from the 996-generation Porsche 911 GT3.
Finished in red, the ‘Porco Rosso’ combines classic air-cooled Porsche engineering with RWB’s unmistakable motorsport-inspired aesthetic. Its documented history, Nakai-fitted bodywork, specialized drivetrain, competition background, and exceptionally rare Café Racer specification make it a particularly distinctive example of the modern RWB phenomenon.
