Well, how would any level-headed motoring journalist respond to the challenge when asked to drive a Porsche across Europe to photograph four classic 911s? That decision took all of two milliseconds to consider. Talk about boyhood dreams and all that! The task before us seemed simple enough: photograph and write up four iconic 911s in Germany in four days. Oh, and our transport was to be Porsche’s (then) latest turbocharged 911 soft-top offering.
Those four days included two days on the road, one each for driving there and back, leaving just two days for the challenging work of finding suitable photographic locations for the four very different 911s. That latter task was easily solved by our gracious host, who lived and worked in the area and knew his way around.
