VIDEO: Tuned 992.2 Carrera T Drag Races 991 GT2 RS

Can a tuned Carrera T keep up with a GT2 RS?

Carwow staged a straight-line showdown between two very different 911s: a heavily tuned Porsche 911 Carrera T (992.2) and the legendary Porsche 911 GT2 RS, racing over the standing quarter mile and in rolling starts.

The GT2 RS sticks to Porsche’s proven supercar recipe. Its 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six delivers 700 hp and 750 Nm, feeding the rear wheels through a 7-speed PDK dual-clutch with launch control. Curb weight sits around 1,470 kg (3,241 lb). When new, it carried a price of roughly $291,000, but by 2026 market values have climbed close to $508,000.

The Carrera T, however, is far from stock. Its 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six normally produces 394 hp, but extensive upgrades — including larger turbos, improved cooling, revised intakes, and a free-flow exhaust — push output to a wild 791 hp and 813 Nm. Power goes to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual, with weight around 1,490 kg (3,285 lb). The car plus modifications total roughly $203,000.

Despite the Carrera T’s huge power advantage, traction and the manual gearbox worked against it. The GT2 RS’s lightning-quick PDK shifts and launch control delivered cleaner runs every time. In the final standing quarter mile, the GT2 RS clocked an 11.3-second pass, while the tuned Carrera T followed at 11.8 seconds.
