Breaking: Gunther Werk’s “Project Endgame”

1 of 1 commissioned Turbo Speedster

Gunther Werks has pulled the cover off Project Endgame, a roofless, one-off build that brings its Speedster program to a close. The car caps nearly a decade of development, serving as both a final statement for the Speedster line and the launch point for GWX coachbuilding, the company’s new coachbuilding arm focused on highly individualized commissions.

According to Peter Nam, the project was shaped in close collaboration with its owner, with an emphasis on performance above all else. That brief led to a first for the brand: an air-cooled, twin-turbocharged Speedster. “Project Endgame is unlike any Speedster we’ve built before,” Nam said, noting that every detail—from major components down to the smallest finishes—was tailored specifically to the client’s vision.

Power comes from a Rothsport Racing engine build-built 4.0-liter flat-six, producing 840 horsepower and 660 lb-ft of torque. The engine, which revs to 7,500 rpm, sends power to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission with custom ratios.

Visually, the car stays rooted in the proportions of the Porsche 993, though nearly every panel has been reworked in carbon fiber. The body draws heavily from Gunther Werks Turbo program, including new rear quarter panels designed to house the enlarged powertrain.

The exterior is finished in a deep True Candy Red, a multi-week process that underscores the level of detail throughout the build. Project Endgame will debut at the Air|Water event in Costa Mesa on April 25, 2026, before moving to a display at the Natsukashii Foundation museum.
