Porsche built just 1,580 units of the 1973 911 Carrera RS 2.7, most in the more road-friendly M472 Touring specification. Designed as a homologation model for racing, it was based on the 2.4L 911S and laid the groundwork for the 2.8 RSR, 3.0 RSR, and the turbocharged 934 and 935.
Key performance enhancements included a larger 2.7L engine producing 210 hp, weight-saving materials like thinner steel, aluminum, and fiberglass, and improved aerodynamics—highlighted by the iconic ducktail spoiler. Lightweight glass and wider Fuchs wheels with flared arches also helped distinguish the car.
While Touring versions retained most standard 911S features, Porsche offered a wide array of factory options. The RS 2.7 is widely regarded as one of Porsche’s most iconic models—and among the greatest sports cars ever made. Today, well-preserved examples can command prices over $500,000.
One of just 1,580 produced, this 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS currently offered for sale on PCARMARKET was originally delivered to Berlin in Grand Prix White with red accents and a Touring package that included an optional electric sunroof. What sets it apart is that it’s believed to be the only RS restored by the Porsche Classic Center in Stuttgart at the historic Werk 1 facility.
The car was fully disassembled by master technicians, with every part either cleaned, repaired, or replaced with authentic Porsche components. It was refinished in its original Grand Prix White with red Carrera side script and 15” painted Fuchs wheels. The engine, gearbox, and all mechanical components were rebuilt to factory specifications. Inside, it features black leather Recaro seats with corduroy inserts, a black four-spoke steering wheel, and a Porsche Classic certification plaque.
