Gunther Werks will return to The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, with two world premieres: the GXR-Evo and Thermal Edition Turbo. Both models draw heavily on the company’s motorsport experience, but with distinctly different missions. The GXR-Evo has been developed as an uncompromising track-focused machine, while the Thermal Edition Turbo pays tribute to Gunther Werks’ longstanding relationship with The Thermal Club. Both cars will make their public debuts Friday, Aug. 14, at 9:30 a.m. PST at the Gunther Werks display.
GXR-Evo
The GXR-Evo is the fastest naturally aspirated car Gunther Werks has produced and represents the company’s most focused interpretation of an analog, track-oriented driving experience.
Developed as a purpose-built race machine, the GXR-Evo is the product of nine years of engineering development and motorsport-driven refinement. Weight reduction has been a central focus, with components evaluated and optimized around a single objective: improved performance.
The result is a car in which function takes precedence over form. Every component and detail has been engineered with speed and track performance in mind, creating what Gunther Werks describes as its ultimate track-day machine.
Thermal Edition Turbo
Limited to five examples worldwide, the Thermal Edition Turbo celebrates the longstanding relationship between Gunther Werks and The Thermal Club.
Based on the Gunther Werks Turbo, the Thermal Edition has been developed specifically for the club’s three-mile circuit. Extensive track testing was used to refine the suspension geometry and power delivery for the raceway’s 17 corners.
Weighing approximately 2,700 pounds, the Thermal Edition is powered by a Gunther Werks-specified, Rothsport Racing-built 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six. The engine revs to 7,500 rpm and produces 850 horsepower, delivered to the rear wheels through a bespoke-ratio six-speed manual transmission.
Each of the five Thermal Edition Turbos will feature an exclusive two-tone livery, magnesium wheels finished in Hyper Silver, and carbon-fiber sills.
F-26
Joining the GXR-Evo and Thermal Edition Turbo at The Quail will be the Gunther Werks F-26.
Following its world premiere in 2025, the F-26 returns to the event after a record-setting performance at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The car recorded a 50.41-second run and claimed victory in the Production Class.
