The 1990 Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer, known as the Bahrain Commission, represents a bespoke interpretation of the air-cooled 911 that combines classic Porsche design with contemporary engineering and carefully selected luxury materials. Offered through Sealed by RM Sotheby’s, this individually commissioned sports car belongs to Singer Vehicle Design’s Classic Services program, which transforms original Porsche 911s while preserving the character and mechanical appeal of the marque’s iconic rear-engined platform.
Singer’s Classic Services philosophy centers on retaining the unmistakable silhouette and air-cooled character of the original 911 while reworking the vehicle to deliver a more sophisticated driving experience. Each commission is developed around the owner’s preferences, with attention given to mechanical performance, chassis behavior, materials, and finish quality.
Completed between June 2014 and March 2015, the Bahrain Commission was reportedly the 24th example produced under Singer’s Classic Services program. Based on a US-specification 1990 Porsche 911, the car was commissioned for use in Bahrain and subsequently maintained with close attention to its mechanical condition.
The cabin combines Tobacco Brown leather upholstery with four-way-adjustable sport seats and Piano Black seatbacks. A roll bar and rear seats with removable backrests reinforce its sporting character. The instrument cluster retains a traditional appearance, with orange markings on the tachometer echoing the exterior paintwork.
Power comes from a 4.0-liter air-cooled flat-six engine, paired with a six-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels. This configuration preserves the mechanical engagement associated with classic 911s while incorporating Singer’s carefully developed engineering refinements.
More recently, the car received Singer-supplied Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, reportedly costing approximately $40,000, along with a Porsche Classic navigation system featuring Apple CarPlay. Its fuel bladder was also replaced using a component supplied by Singer, with validity extending through 2032. The original catalytic converters, supplied at delivery but not installed on the exhaust, accompany the vehicle.
According to the listing, the Bahrain Commission has covered approximately 4,469 kilometers since its reimagining and remains in excellent condition. Its maintenance was overseen by the commissioning owner’s in-house mechanics, with ongoing communication with Singer’s teams in the United Kingdom and Los Angeles.
Offered through RM Sotheby’s Private Sales in partnership with Singer Vehicle Design, the car is listed at $1,275,000 and includes a 12-month Singer warranty. Its early production status, bespoke specification, documented upkeep, and combination of air-cooled power with contemporary upgrades make it a distinctive example of Singer’s approach to the classic Porsche 911.
