Porsche Club of America’s Suncoast Region is one of the largest in the country, with over 3600 members. Suncoast PCA is an extremely active chapter, conducting 134 events of different types in 2026. Suncoast hosted their 65th Anniversary at the venerable Sebring Racetrack October 23-25th.
The 65th Celebration featured events for every type of Porsche owner, including Driver Education on the track (DE), Autocross, Rally, Group Tours, Tire Rack’s Street Survival (TRSS) training and a Gala Celebration.
Friday the 23rd kicked off with a full day of on-track DE, for both solo and super solo drivers. It was a chance to knock the rust off and get in practice laps in preparation for Saturday’s coached laps. The weather was spectacular with mild temperatures, and lots of track time.
There was so much going on Saturday that it was difficult to keep it all straight. Starting the day, group tours led Suncoast Porsche owners from 4 locations across the region to Sebring, gathering at the track in the obligatory corral. Early in the day, participants also checked in for the day’s DE program and orientation laps around the historic raceway.
The sound of Stuttgart’s finest circling the track was a fitting backdrop for the days’ activities, as Porsches of all types were on track all day for the coached DE sessions. Under the guidance of seasoned instructors in the co-pilot’s seat, owners worked all day to improve their driving skills and capture personal-best lap times.
Over at the skid pad, Tire Rack’s Street Survival class formed up for a full day of real-world car control and defensive driving skill training. A non-profit entity formed by Tire Rack, TRSS is designed to reduce fatalities among young (15-21) drivers. In-car coaches guided students through various driving challenges, including skid pad, braking and cornering skills. One unique feature was the placement of a large semi-tractor on field, with cars placed on both sides and in front of the rig. The students learned first-hand, the extremely limited visibility from the driver’s seat of these large trucks.
While all these activities were occurring, a group of Suncoast owners gathered in the paddock, in preparation of heading out to local destinations for a timed distance rally. Leaving at 3-minute intervals, the drivers and co-pilots challenged each other in precision rallying around the area.
Saturday evening featured a celebration under the tent in the paddock. The large group of Suncoast members enjoyed good food, good company, and plentiful spirits as they toasted rally winners, honored volunteers’ hard work, and toasted to the 65th Anniversary of Suncoast Region.
