Now offered for sale through RM Sotheby’s Private Sales in partnership with Singer Vehicle Design, the 1991 Porsche 911 DLS Turbo “Firefly Commission” is an exceptionally rare expression of Singer’s celebrated approach to reimagining the Type 964. One of just 99 DLS Turbo restorations commissioned, all of which are now spoken for, Firefly is one of approximately 10 examples produced in right-hand-drive configuration for the U.K. market.
Its visual identity is defined by a spectacular bespoke combination of Solid Tangerine paintwork and leather-to-sample Orange upholstery, complemented by black-anodized matte brightwork throughout. The lightweight carbon-fiber body is protected by full exterior paint-protection film and can be configured for either road or track use. The former features a ducktail spoiler and revised front fascia, while the latter adds a larger rear wing and more aggressive aerodynamic treatment. Both configurations accompany the car in bespoke flight cases, allowing its owner to alter its character depending on the intended use.
At the center of the DLS Turbo experience is a heavily re-engineered version of the Type 964’s M64 flat-six. Enlarged to 3.8 liters, the air-cooled architecture incorporates four-valve cylinder heads, water-cooled heads, twin turbochargers with electronic wastegates, air-to-water intercooling, and a horizontally mounted cooling fan. The result is a remarkable 710 horsepower (SAE Net) and 750 Nm of torque, with the engine capable of exceeding 9,000 rpm. Its engineering philosophy draws inspiration from Porsche’s formidable 934/5 endurance racers of the 1970s.
Completed by Singer in November 2025, Firefly has covered only 1,294 miles and has remained with its commissioning owner in the U.K., seeing occasional road use around London and southern England. Its provenance was further enhanced at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed, where Singer was the event’s celebrated central feature. Selected by Singer founder and Creative Director Rob Dickinson and the Duke of Richmond, Firefly formed a centerpiece of Singer’s display before being driven up the famous Goodwood Hillclimb by Singer Chief Test Driver Marino Franchitti.
Combining extraordinary engineering, limited production, bespoke specification, and significant recent provenance, the Firefly Commission exemplifies the uncompromising craftsmanship and performance that have established Singer among the most influential names in modern automotive restoration.
