Offered for sale on Bring a Trailer, this extensively reimagined 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera coupe represents a unique collaboration between classic 911 heritage and the engineering expertise of RUF. Originally delivered to the U.S. market, the car was exported to Europe in 2013, where it underwent a comprehensive transformation culminating at RUF’s renowned Pfaffenhausen facility.
The build began with the addition of aggressive RSR-inspired bodywork, including widened fender flares and a motorsport-style front bumper featuring enhanced cooling provisions for both the oil system and brakes. Completed in 2018, the project resulted in a highly personalized machine known as “Goldfinger.”
Power comes from RUF’s upgraded version of the M930/25 flat-six, enlarged from its original displacement to 3.4 liters and rated at approximately 250 horsepower and 218 lb-ft of torque. The engine sends power exclusively to the rear wheels through a G50 five-speed manual transaxle, paired with a performance clutch installed during the build.
The stance is reinforced by custom 17-inch Fuchs-style wheels measuring 9 inches wide at the front and 10 inches at the rear, wrapped in Toyo Proxes performance tires. Chassis upgrades include RUF-calibrated dampers and large-diameter CTR-spec drilled and ventilated brakes featuring adjustable brake bias for enhanced stopping performance.
Inside, the cabin showcases a blend of luxury and motorsport influences. Carbon-fiber heated bucket seats are upholstered in dark brown water buffalo leather with houndstooth inserts, complemented by yellow contrast stitching throughout the interior. Additional highlights include a RUF Sport steering wheel, custom VDO instrumentation, lightweight door panels, perforated Alcantara headliner, integrated roll cage, aluminum pedals, navigation-equipped Bluetooth audio system, and a rear storage compartment replacing the factory rear seats.
RUF further refined the exterior by smoothing the roofline through the removal of the rain gutters, integrating modern LED lighting, and fitting a retractable rear spoiler derived from the Porsche 964. A bespoke rear bumper with parking sensors and additional custom body modifications were also incorporated before the car was finished in striking Lime Gold Metallic paint. Distinctive details include a sunroof and exclusive “Goldfinger” badging.
