Given the multi-layered and comprehensive nature of the law enforcement system in the United States, it may seem surprising that no American police force has ever officially adopted Porsche vehicles. This is partially explained through a multitude of reasons, ranging from economic to political motivations – explanations that fall outside the scope of this article. However, this does not mean that the German company has not left its mark on law enforcement agencies in the States.

This story begins in the second half of the 1960s: countries such as Germany and the Netherlands had already proven Porsche cars’ excellence for police duties, particularly as interceptors and high-speed chasers. But despite the successful deals in Europe, Porsche believed that the big prize lay across the Atlantic.
