Lightweight and powerful, the Porsche 964 Carrera RS 3.8 is one of the most sought-after road cars of the 964 generation. Built in 1993–1994, it shared the wide body of the 964 Turbo but stood out with a large fixed bi-plane rear wing featuring “3.8” logos on the side plates.

Weight reduction was a major focus. Aluminum was used for the hood and doors, while thinner glass reduced mass further. Sound insulation, rear seats, and most comfort features—such as air conditioning, power locks, and electric windows—were removed. Lightweight carpeting replaced the standard interior, and racing bucket seats took the place of adjustable factory seats. Simple door panels with pull straps echoed earlier Carrera RS models, and a front suspension brace improved rigidity.

In this ISSIMI Official video, legendary driver Walter Röhrl describes the Porsche 964 Carrera RS 3.8 as exceptionally engaging. He highlights its wide stance, large tires, and strong engine performance, noting that the precise handling made the car feel like a natural extension of the driver.
