AutoTopNL takes the 2025 911 Carrera S Cabriolet to Palomar Mountain near San Diego for a scenic POV drive, highlighting its updates and performance on tight canyon roads. The Carrera S now produces 480 hp from its 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six, borrowing turbochargers and hardware from the previous GTS.

Torque remains at 530 Nm but is spread across a wider rev range for stronger midrange pull. It’s now PDK-only, as manual demand was too low. Performance figures include 0–100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and 0–200 km/h in 11.6 seconds.

Standard upgrades include larger brakes (previously GTS-spec), adaptive PASM dampers, 20/21-inch wheels, a mechanical limited-slip differential (PTV Plus), and a sports exhaust. The Cabriolet adds about 75 kg over the coupe due to chassis reinforcements but retains impressive rigidity and grip.

On the mountain road, the Carrera S balances comfort and precision. Steering feel is sharp, brake feedback is strong, and rear traction is excellent. With the roof down, turbo spool and blow-off sounds are more pronounced. The result is a highly capable, everyday-usable 911 that sits perfectly between the base Carrera and the hybrid GTS in both performance and character.
