The Cape Palmas Commission is an exceptionally specified 1990 Porsche 911 Targa and one of the final Targa projects completed by Singer Vehicle Design in its Classic Services style. Created around the commissioning owner’s highly personal vision, this example combines the timeless character of the original 911 with Singer’s meticulous engineering, craftsmanship, and bespoke detailing. Completed in early 2025, it has traveled fewer than 600 miles since recommissioning.
At the heart of the build is an all-wheel-drive drivetrain paired with Singer’s 4.0-liter engine and a six-speed manual transmission. The mechanical specification is complemented by a ceramic plenum inlet manifold, titanium exhaust mufflers, and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, delivering a combination of performance, durability, and sophisticated road manners.
The car’s most distinctive feature is its bespoke Dark Olive Metallic exterior finish, developed specifically by Singer and the owner. Inspired by the rich metallic depth of a Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time watch, the paint shifts dramatically with changing light. Its deep olive foundation reveals subtle golden metallic highlights, creating an unusually dynamic appearance while harmonizing with the vehicle’s brass and solid-gold detailing. Full-body paint protection film installed by Singer helps preserve the finish.
Additional exterior touches include nickel-plated bumperettes, 24-karat-gold rear decklid badging, and champagne-finished brake calipers with black lettering. Bespoke wheels feature RS-style nickel petals and lips against satin-black centers and barrels. The commission also includes a second Targa roof finished in Euro Green and matching 24-karat-gold Targa badges.
Inside, the cabin is upholstered in bespoke Weissach leather and suede, presented in an espresso-brown palette with contrasting Tosca and Lava Black accents. Custom-weave carbon bucket seats feature brass grommets, while the doors, rear quarters, and firewall receive their own complementary treatment. Dark-green stitching provides a subtle connection to the exterior.
A bespoke black Momo Prototipo steering wheel, ebony shift knob with nickel-engraved pattern, and early-style 911 instrumentation reinforce the period-inspired character. The champagne-nickel tachometer incorporates paint-to-sample markings, an orange needle, and a 12-o’clock redline orientation. Modern usability comes through Porsche Classic Navigation with Apple CarPlay, alongside upgraded Audison amplification and Dynaudio speakers and subwoofer. An ebony dashboard strip completes the interior’s special-wishes specification.
With fewer than 600 miles since Singer’s work was completed, the Cape Palmas Commission presents as an exceptionally fresh example. Its Targa configuration combines open-air driving with the refinement and security of a coupe, while all-wheel drive adds further versatility.
The Cape Palmas Commission is scheduled to be offered by RM Sotheby’s on September 24, with an estimated value of up to $1.2 million, making it a particularly compelling opportunity for collectors seeking a highly individualized, low-mileage Porsche reimagined by Singer.
