AutoTopNL takes a 2003 Porsche 911 GT2 (996 generation) for a high-speed POV drive on the Autobahn. Nicknamed the “Widowmaker,” this rare Speed Yellow GT2 has nearly 100,000 km on the clock, driven year-round by its owner.
The GT2 features a widened front bumper with large intakes, turbo-style rear fenders, a massive rear wing, 18-inch wheels with 235/315 Michelin Pilot Sport tires, and a KW V4 suspension 10 mm lower than a standard 996 Turbo. Original carbon-ceramic brakes were swapped for steel early on but still perform well.
Powered by a 3.6L twin-turbo flat-six producing 462 hp and 620 Nm of torque, it accelerates 0–100 km/h in 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 315 km/h. Rear-wheel drive, no traction or stability control, and a lightweight front end give it a reputation for snap oversteer—but warm tires and careful inputs make it controllable.
Inside, racing bucket seats, yellow belts, a six-speed manual, and a limited-slip diff create a focused driver experience. The GT2 blends GT3-like precision with Turbo-class power, offering unfiltered performance that is thrilling yet manageable. After 100,000 km, it still delivers iconic, heart-pounding thrills.
