Raceborn – 75 Years of Porsche Motorsport

New Porsche Motorsport expo opens at Beijing Genesis Centre

The “Raceborn – 75 Years of Porsche Motorsport” exhibition has opened at Beijing Genesis Centre, with the Porsche Brand Pop-Up on the Liangma River serving as a motorsport-themed fifth chapter. Together, they trace 75 years of Porsche competition—from Le Mans and Dakar to Formula E and the street.

Highlights

  • Porsche China celebrates 75 years of Porsche Motorsport with an exhibition tracing 12 legendary races.
  • Four chapters cover endurance, road, rally, hill climb, one-make and Formula E – celebrating speed, glory and relentless innovation.
  • The Porsche Brand Pop-Up is reinvented as a motorsport-themed fifth chapter, complementing the Genesis showcase.
  • Free admission at Genesis Centre through September 25.

“Motorsport has been in Porsche’s DNA. It is our history, and it shapes our present and future,” said Alexander Pollich, President and CEO of Porsche China. “The racetrack is our laboratory for innovation and the heart of our brand spirit. Above all, it is a shared passion. Whether you are a lifelong motorsport enthusiast or discovering Porsche for the first time, I hope you feel the true meaning of ‘Raceborn’ here. It belongs not only to professional drivers, but to everyone who pursues pure driving pleasure.”

Porsche brand ambassador and freestyle skiing world champion Eileen Gu attended the opening ceremony. “Most people see skiing and motorsport as completely different worlds,” she said. “But to me, the spirit is identical – precise judgment at extreme speeds, constantly pushing boundaries, learning from every run and coming back stronger.”

75 Years of Racing Legend, Four Chapters on the Track

Porsche’s racing story began at Le Mans in 1951, when a 356 SL scored a class victory. More than 30,000 wins later, motorsport remains central to the company’s identity. The exhibition tells that story through 12 races spanning four continents.

  • Chapter I: Foundations of Endurance – Porsche counts 19 overall wins at Le Mans, 20 at Sebring, 21 at Daytona and 13 at the Nürburgring 24 Hours—a record built on speed, durability and constant development.
  • Chapter II: Legends of the Open Road – Targa Florio and Carrera Panamericana posters join models of the 550 Spyder and 911 Carrera RSR, recalling the road races that helped create the Targa, Carrera and Panamera names.
  • Chapter III: Conquest of the Extremes – Porsche won Monte Carlo three straight times from 1968–1970, finished one-two at the 1986 Paris-Dakar Rally with the 959 and took three consecutive Transsyberia victories with the Cayenne. From ice and desert to Pikes Peak, Porsche rarely let terrain get in the way.
  • Chapter IV: Heritage & Tomorrow – The 911 Cup represents Porsche’s customer-racing tradition, while the 99X Electric carries it into Formula E. The electric racer has already won drivers’, teams’ and manufacturers’ world championships, while feeding lessons from competition back into Porsche road cars.

Historic posters, racing liveries and archival footage round out the 75-year retrospective.

Brand Pop-up New Theme: Bringing the Racing Spirit to Everyday Life

The Porsche Brand Pop-Up takes the racing story to the road under the theme “Raceborn for Every Driver,” led by three very different machines.

  • 911 Dakar – Raceborn for Adventure. Inspired by the 953 that won the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally, the 911 Dakar turns rally history into a production sports car. Images from Monte Carlo, Dakar, Transsyberia and the East African Safari provide the backdrop.
  • 911 GT3 R rennsport – Raceborn for Performance. Limited to 77 cars and freed from racing regulations, the 911 GT3 R rennsport is Porsche customer racing without the rulebook—a purpose-built track machine wrapped in dramatic red, white and blue.
  • Cayenne Passion – Raceborn for Everyday. Cayenne Passion — Raceborn for Everyday. Wearing a Rennsport-inspired livery, the Cayenne Passion brings Porsche’s competition DNA to the SUV, combining road performance with the capability that made the Cayenne such an unlikely success.

Upstairs, the Sonderwunsch space features motorsport-inspired bespoke projects, from historic liveries to competition-influenced interior materials. The result is less a victory lap than a reminder of how deeply racing runs through Porsche. From the 356 SL at Le Mans to the 99X Electric in Formula E, competition has been both proving ground and product-development laboratory for 75 years. The “Raceborn – 75 Years of Porsche Motorsport” exhibition is open to the public free of charge at Beijing Genesis Centre through September 25. The Porsche Brand Pop-Up will remain open through November. All are welcome to begin their own motorsport journey where racing DNA meets urban life.
