FOR SALE: Gemballa-Modified 1996 Porsche 993 Turbo

PCARMARKET is giving you the opportunity to acquire one of the last air-cooled 911 that boasts superb drivability and stunning looks: a 1996 Porsche 993 Turbo.

The 993 Turbo was available between late 1995 to 1998. Powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.6 liter flat six, it was rated at 402-horsepower. It’s distinguished easily from the rear, as the whale-tail spoiler is quite deep to house the intercoolers meant to cool the intake charge. This extra power might have been a handful for street drivers, so all-wheel drive from the 993 Carrera 4 added traction at all four corners. Approximately 6,000 coupes were made.

The Turbo’s bodywork differs from the Carrera by widened rear wheel arches (about 6 cm), redesigned front and rear bumper moldings, and a fixed “whale tail” rear wing housing the intercoolers. New 18-inch (460 mm) alloy wheels with hollow spokes were standard. The car also had larger brakes than those on the base Carrera model.

The example we have here is a Black Metallic 993 Turbo that underwent a complete Gemballa “Turbo S Conversion” under previous ownership in 1999. The invoice from Gemballa North America confirms that more than $35,000 was invested in carbon fiber trim pieces, a larger intercooler, and upgraded turbochargers, resulting in an alleged output of 540 HP. The vehicle was extensively refurbished over the last several years, including a new paint job, interior upholstery, and a significant service that added an upgraded Brembo big brake kit.

As part of the Gemballa Turbo S conversion, this car has custom vented side skirts, a Turbo S style front spoiler, rear wing, and fenders with integrated air scoops. The previous owner also had the car repainted in Black Metallic with a glass-out repaint in 2018. It now runs on a set of 18” Gemballa multi-piece wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport tires from 2017.

The Classic Grey interior of this car is highly customized, with substantial carbon fiber trim pieces, including Gemballa-branded door panel inserts. The car comes equipped with stainless steel door entry guards, aluminum-look instrument dials, power windows and mirrors, a sliding sunroof, electrically adjustable seats, an aftermarket GReddy electronic boost controller, and a sound system that features a Porsche Classic radio (PCCM).

The car’s twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six engine, which was originally rated at 408 HP, has been modified by Gemballa with a larger intercooler and upgraded Extremo turbochargers to produce an alleged output of 540 HP. It has a 6-speed manual transmission that drives all four wheels, and it rides on an upgraded Gemballa sport suspension. Stopping power comes from a newly installed Brembo big brake kit.

Don’t miss this chance to own a highly-coveted 911 that boasts impressive modifications courtesy of Gemballa. Get it now on PCARMARKET!
