Manthey Racing will head to the DTM season finale at Hockenheim leading both the drivers’ and teams’ championships after a strong penultimate weekend at the Sachsenring.
Thomas Preining extended his podium streak to six consecutive races with third place on Saturday and second on Sunday. The Austrian, who moved into the championship lead after qualifying second for Saturday’s race, leaves the Sachsenring with a 23-point advantage heading into the final two races of the season.
Ricardo Feller added another podium for Manthey on Sunday, finishing third after qualifying second. He had placed 13th in Saturday’s race despite starting from the midfield.
Both Manthey drivers have scored points in every race this season. Feller sits 11th in the championship with 98 points, while the team’s consistent results have moved Manthey to the top of the teams’ standings with 282 points, 20 ahead of Winward Racing.
Sunday’s wet race placed an added premium on tire choice, pressures and pit strategy, with each car making two stops. Preining emerged with second place, while Feller converted his front-row starting position into his second DTM podium with Manthey.
Saturday proved less dramatic, but strategy and pit-stop execution again played a significant role. Preining’s third-place finish maintained his podium streak, while Feller recovered from a difficult qualifying session to score points in 13th.
The Sachsenring results put Manthey in contention for DTM titles at the season finale for the third time in four years, an achievement made more notable by the team’s difficult start to the 2026 campaign.
Raeder also pointed to the consistency of Preining and Feller, who have both scored in every race this season.

Four Races in Four Weekends
Manthey now enters a demanding stretch that will take the team across three championships and three continents.
Before the DTM finale, the team travels to Japan for the FIA World Endurance Championship’s 6 Hours of Fuji, followed by Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta and the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup finale.
The DTM title fight follows at Hockenheim, with another FIA WEC event at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya completing a run of four consecutive race weekends.
