New Exhibit: Raceborn – 75 Years of Porsche Motorsport

Museum pays tribute to the numerous racing exploits of Porsche

With the special exhibition “Raceborn – 75 Years of Porsche Motorsport”, the Porsche Museum reflects on an important chapter of the company’s history until 17 January 2027. The exhibition explores the subject through six different perspectives. In addition, “Raceborn Kids” brings the key themes to life for children in a playful and engaging way. The Porsche Museum is celebrating 75 years of Porsche Motorsport with the special exhibition “Raceborn – 75 Years of Porsche Motorsport,” running through Jan. 17, 2027. The exhibition traces Porsche’s motorsport legacy from the Porsche 356 SL‘s class victory at the  to 24 Hours of Le Mans to today’s factory and customer racing programs.

“Porsche is motorsport. And motorsport has made Porsche what we are today. We are dedicating a special exhibition to this legacy and our mission for the future, showcasing the full spectrum of this special part of our DNA,” says Achim Stejskal, Head of Porsche Heritage and Museum.

A new exhibition design uses a red ribbon resembling a racetrack to guide visitors through six themes: innovation, racing classes, diversity, milestones, people and regulations.

“In the exhibition, visitors encounter 75 years of Porsche Motorsport from ever-changing perspectives,” explains Tanja Schleicher, Curator at the Porsche Museum. “We deliberately move away from a linear timeline and present motorsport as an identity-defining mindset – something that inspires and connects people. The exhibits themselves become part of a wider context: technically, historically, but also sensorially and narratively.”

Dialogue between origins and the present

Thirty-one race cars illustrate Porsche’s motorsport evolution, pairing historic icons with modern competition cars, including the Porsche 356 SL, Formula E 99X Electric, Porsche 963 and the Cayman GT4 e-Performance concept.

“Each vehicle tells its own facet of motorsport – from lightweight construction and aerodynamics to the robustness crucial in racing. These vehicles do not represent opposites of past and future – each offers its own answer to the demands of its time,” Schleicher explains.

Motorsport for everyone – no prior knowledge needed

The exhibition includes interactive displays, a motorsport glossary, racing hierarchy guide and multimedia exhibits explaining topics such as Balance of Performance, racing regulations and the restoration of historic race cars.

“We do not aim to explain motorsport, but to make it tangible from different perspectives,” says Schleicher. “Only through the interplay of these viewpoints does a deeper understanding emerge.”

Supporting Program: Motorsports Talks and “Raceborn Kids”

The museum will host five annual German-language motorsport talks covering historic race cars, Formula E and behind-the-scenes aspects of racing.

For younger visitors, “Raceborn Kids” offers interactive activities, digital experiences and hands-on exhibits exploring the science, teamwork, and engineering behind motorsport.
