This Porsche Club of America review focuses on the rare 1992 Porsche 964 Carrera RS Clubsport, a track-oriented version of the Carrera RS limited to about 290 units. Developed from the already lightweight RS, the Clubsport was further stripped down and optimized for racing, though it remained street-legal in some markets.

Weight savings and performance upgrades included a roll cage, racing bucket seats, thinner carpeting, and the removal of sound insulation and comfort features. The car also used manual steering and a revised suspension setup, making it more focused and capable on the track. Power came from a 3.6-liter air-cooled flat-six producing around 260 hp, paired with a five-speed manual transmission.

On the road, the Clubsport feels raw and highly engaging, with sharp throttle response and very direct steering. Its light weight makes it feel especially agile, though the stiff suspension and lack of amenities make it impractical for daily use or long trips. Designed primarily for track driving, it delivers a pure, analog experience that rewards driver skill and attention while offering a strong connection to Porsche’s racing
