Porsche Customer Team Andretti Wins Season Opener

Jake Dennis claims victory in Formula E, Round 1

The former world champion, Jake Dennis, converted pole position into victory in a dramatic 30-lap showdown, reclaiming the lead after a late safety-car interruption by the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT and deploying his final Attack Mode to decisive effect.

After a red flag set up a one-lap shootout to the finish, the British driver sealed his first Formula E win since Diriyah in 2024—delivering the result on the birthday of Andretti team principal Roger Griffiths.

Porsche left São Paulo with a strong double-points haul, entering the season as the defending Teams’ and Manufacturers’ World Champion. Factory drivers Pascal Wehrlein and Nico Müller brought home fourth and fifth place, respectively, in the Porsche 99X Electric, showcasing the outfit’s trademark efficiency.

Wehrlein had earlier taken his third consecutive São Paulo pole, beating the field by 0.302 seconds in qualifying. The three bonus points were little consolation, however, after a three-place grid penalty for a qualifying infringement dropped him to fourth on the starting grid.

The ex-champion remained a constant presence at the sharp end of the pack on the 2.933-kilometre street circuit, ultimately matching his best São Paulo finish from 2024.

Local favourite Felipe Drugovich initially crossed the line in fifth on his debut with Andretti, giving the home crowd reason to cheer. But a post-race penalty for yellow-flag violations relegated him out of the points.
