The 997 GT2 made its debut at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, with just 1,261 units built for the global market between 2008 and 2009. Its twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six delivered 523 horsepower and 505 lb-ft of torque, pushing the GT2 to 204 mph—making it the fastest road-legal 911 of its era.
To achieve that performance, Porsche added key hardware but removed just as much in the name of weight savings. The biggest omission was the 911’s traditional 2+2 rear seating, and all-wheel drive was dropped in favor of a lighter rear-drive setup. Engineers even reduced cabin insulation to create a more motorsport-like atmosphere.
Standard equipment included fixed-back sport bucket seats, with adaptive sport seats offered as an option. Externally, the GT2 stood apart with extra air intakes replacing the fog lamps, an added intake below the front hood, a pronounced front lip spoiler, a side intake with a central support bar, and a substantial rear wing.
This 2008 example is one of only 237 delivered to North America and one of just 16 finished in Speed Yellow. Inside, it carries an extensively optioned Dark Grey Natural Leather cabin with additional leather trim, deviated stitching, and body-color accents.
Originally priced at more than $227,000, it was further equipped with the Sport Chrono Package, BOSE Surround Sound, red taillights, painted side skirts, auto-dimming mirrors, an aluminum footrest, a telephone handset, illuminated carbon-fiber door sills, Adaptive Sport Seat backrests, Speed Yellow belts, and Porsche-crested headrests.
A standout specification of one of Porsche’s rarest modern 911s, this GT2 is now offered on PCARMARKET in excellent condition with approximately 11,000 miles on the odometer.
