Galpin’s First BB-Auto
Galpin Motors debuted its first U.S.-built bb-Auto commission, a faith-inspired 1986 Porsche Targa known as bb-001 “Streets of Gold,” during Monterey Car Week. The car was featured at Motorlux, Werks Reunion Monterey, Casa Lee, and the Monterey Motorsports Festival.
Commissioned by Alexander Everest, founder of Christ and Cars and a healthcare executive, “Streets of Gold” reflects the biblical imagery of the new Heaven having gates of Pearl (Revelation 21:21). Bible verses are incorporated throughout the design, and its shimmering custom metallic gold paint takes inspiration from the biblical vision of heaven’s streets paved with gold. The build began with a 1986 Porsche G-Body Targa chassis, which was transformed with the signature bb-Auto front and rear styling. Every trim piece, emblem, and accent was refinished to harmonize with the gold theme, ensuring no detail was overlooked.
Personalized touches
The interior blends artistry and symbolism. The dash cluster features mother-of-pearl-backed gauges framed by 24-karat gold bezels inspired by the 12 gates of heaven, while bespoke leather Sparco seats are complemented by custom leather and Alcantara trim covering the pillars, windshield header, and rear quarters. The shift knob carved from acacia wood is believed to be the same material used for Noah’s Ark, which serves as a tangible connection to the build’s spiritual roots. A custom-built Morel Elate Carbon sound system, powered by Mosconi amplifiers and paired with Focal subwoofers, delivers an immersive, golden sound for the driver’s soul.
Not just for show
Under the rear decklid, the precisely engineered 4.0L Ed Pink Racing engine produces a naturally-aspirated 400 horsepower with hand-finished color-matched components to echo the car’s exterior brilliance. Dual oil coolers ensure consistent performance, while Porsche Active Suspension Management delivers a refined yet responsive ride. Stopping power is provided by Brembo brakes, and grip comes from Michelin Cup 2 tires mounted on custom 18-inch HRE wheels featuring bespoke bb-Auto center caps, a special collaboration with HRE Wheels.
“For me, the inspiration for this car came directly from the Bible,” said Everest. “I’ve commissioned many custom cars before, but none like this. Only bb-Auto could bring my vision to life. Galpin Auto Sports painted my masterpiece, and it is a rocket ship! This is my passion brought to life in an amazing machine.”
