1998 Ruf Turbo R Limited The Ultimate Restomod
In 1998, RUF built the Turbo R in honor of the 993 Turbo. It had a revised flat-six engine with 490 horsepower, a modified suspension, an integrated roll cage, and a lot more. Nearly two decades later, in 2016, RUF announced the Turbo R Limited, a tribute to the Turbo R. The Limited is built on new, unused tubs acquired from Porsche in 1998 – hence the 1998 model year. The engine is one of the last of the air-cooled generation. Each one of the seven Limiteds are completely unique and this is the only example to be finished in Riviera Blue with Titanium Grey wheels and calipers.
This tribute to the original Turbo R is a really special series and given the rarity, it is no surprise it is smashed the estimated $1.4MM price that was expected at auction. With just two private owners from new, this Turbo R Limited presents in exceptional condition in all respects; the odometer displayed just over 1,500 km (approximately 932 miles) at the time of cataloguing. This magnificent Riviera Blue example, ideally and tastefully specified, is surely among the most compelling sports cars built in recent years and an instant collectible with ample room for future appreciation.
