Rare RHD Gunther Werks 993 Speedster for Sale

One of only 25 examples produced

Gunther Werks, based in Huntington Beach, California, is known for reimagining the air-cooled Porsche 993, transforming it into what the company believes Porsche might be building today had production continued beyond 1998. Their remastered cars feature extensive carbon fiber integration, including the bodywork and even parts of the chassis.

The Speedster variant is based on a 993 Cabriolet and features significant reinforcements, including a carbon-fiber windshield frame, an integrated roll hoop, and upgrades replacing the rear seats. Despite losing its roof, the Speedster is claimed to be twice as stiff as the coupe with no added weight.

Each car features a fully rebuilt 4.0-liter flat-six engine by Rothsport Road and Race, equipped with forged internals, a billet crankshaft, individual throttle bodies, and MoTec engine management. Producing over 430 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque, it’s paired with a strengthened Getrag G50 six-speed transaxle.

Only 25 Speedsters were made, each with a specification sheet that will surely impress any Porsche enthusiast. One of these automotive masterpieces is now available for sale at RM Sotheby’s, with an estimated value of $1,150,000 to $1,350,000.

This right-hand drive example was built for a client from Hong Kong and has seen minimal use after its completion. It comes finished in Tungsten Metallic with a Brandy over Onyx Nappa leather interior. It features the optional Travel Package, highlighted by a carbon fiber steering wheel and a single-piece carbon center console with a cupholder and phone holder, along with vintage-inspired nickel-plated side mirrors.
