Following recent Instagram posts from Porsche, it appears that new 992.2-gen Turbo models are about to be revealed on 7 September at 15:00 CEST.
What we know so far…
Porsche recently posted a video clip of a mystery car with text, “Weissach is where legends are born … And another is soon to be unveiled.” Then they posted a clip with actor/racer Patrick Dempsey being taken for a brisk launch in an unidentified Porsche. The text read “Schnell. Faster than schnell” which translates loosely to “Faster than Fast.” On September 1st, Porsche posted the picture at the top of this story, showcasing the silhouette of what is clearly a 911 under a black drop cloth. Obviously, a 911 in cloaked guise with the Turbo-style rear wing. The text read “You’ve been waiting for it. Stay tuned for the reveal on 7 September, 15:00 CEST.”
What could it be?
Track enthusiasts would love a GT2 missile, but more realistically, we are probably looking at a refined 992.2 Turbo with hybrid technology. Given an earlier statement from Porsche inferring that future 911 Turbos would use battery cells from the supplier Varta, that’s are best educated guess.
