Ice Drifting Swedish Style!

Drifting Porsches in Sweden was never so much fun!

McMurtry Owners Club

A single-seater is, by definition, a solitary experience: one seat, one driver and total focus. Yet when multiple cars — and the people behind them — are brought together, the dynamic changes entirely.

That thinking led to the creation of the McMurtry Owners Club. The Spéirling has drawn a community of owners who are interested in far more than possession alone; they want to understand the car, explore its limits and share the experience with others who approach driving with the same mindset. What unites them most, however, is a genuine passion for driving itself.

That passion shaped the Club’s first event, held ahead of the first Spéirling deliveries. The initiative was designed not to begin with the car, but with the drivers who will eventually pilot it.

The First Event

Beyond the experience itself, the Owners Club was created to prepare drivers for the extraordinary grip and performance characteristics of the Spéirling. To achieve that, the first event focused on fundamentals: no aerodynamic downforce, minimal grip and no electronic driver aids. Ice driving became the ultimate exercise in vehicle control.

‘To master grip, first you must lose it’

McMurtry selected Tuthill to host the inaugural gathering through its acclaimed Below Zero Ice Driving programme. The venue features more than 10 kilometres of unrestricted, interconnected circuits cut into metre-thick ice, alongside a fleet of rally-prepared, air-cooled Porsche 911s — widely regarded as a bucket-list experience among driving enthusiasts.

Combined with the Scandinavian backdrop, carefully curated hotels and restaurants, and a meticulously organised itinerary, the setting offered owners a fully immersive experience. Every detail was managed to allow participants to focus entirely on the driving and the company around them.

More Than Driving

Owners travelled from across the globe to take part, united by a shared enthusiasm for driving and a like-minded approach to performance motoring. Specification sessions were also held for owners yet to finalise their Spéirling configurations, giving them the opportunity to refine their cars with a clearer understanding of how they intended to use them.

Thomas Yates delivered an exclusive presentation on the production car, sharing updates and previously unseen imagery shown only to attendees. By the conclusion of the event, what had started as a gathering of individuals had evolved into something far more connected — the beginnings of a genuine community built around the shared pursuit of driving.
