Gunther Werks’ Porsche 911 Up for Auction

One of just 25 Gunther Werks Speedsters built

Gunther Werks, known for creating one of the finest analog driving machines, has elevated its lineup by introducing an open-top variant inspired by Porsche’s iconic Speedster. Using classic design cues such as a low windscreen and the absence of side windows, this model features advanced carbon fiber techniques to create a chassis twice as rigid as the coupe without any weight increase.

Starting with a 993-generation 911 Cabriolet, the car is reinforced with carbon fiber elements and additional bracing, particularly in the space once occupied by the rear seats. Key features include a carbon windshield frame with aluminum reinforcements and a roll hoop integrated into the tonneau cover.

Limited to just 25 units, this extraordinary Speedster—dubbed the Buenos Aires Commission—is set to go under the hammer at Bonhams Cars this weekend. The Buenos Aires example is finished in an ominous black exterior with dark bronze center-lock wheels and carbon-fiber accents.

It features Black Edition headlights, LED taillights, a carbon splitter, nickel-finish door handles, and Heritage graphics, all protected by a PPF coating. Inside, the cabin continues the theme with leather-trimmed carbon sports seats, leather floor mats, and carbon fiber floor panels.

Underneath, the Speedster boasts a reengineered suspension setup featuring custom arms, upgraded bushings, and adjustable JRZ coilovers. A front-axle lift ensures drivability around town. At its core is a hand-built 4.0-liter flat-six from Rothsport Racing, producing at least 430 horsepower. It has components like a billet crankshaft, GT3 intake, custom exhaust, and MoTec management system, and it’s paired with a bespoke G50 six-speed manual and limited-slip differential.
