The hypercar era of the mid-2010s produced few machines as technologically significant as the Porsche 918 Spyder, and an exceptionally rare example is now set to cross the block at Broad Arrow Auctions on May 17. This 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder, number 31 of just 918 units produced, represents one of the most exclusive and meticulously specified examples ever delivered in Europe.
Finished in the extraordinary Sonderfarbe Liquid Metal Chrome Blue, the car’s appearance alone places it among the rarest 918 Spyders produced. Applied through an intensive nine-layer paint process directly over the carbon-fiber reinforced bodywork, the €40,000 finish creates a remarkable liquid-like depth that dramatically highlights the Spyder’s sculpted aerodynamic surfaces.
Complementing the exterior is Porsche’s optional “Authentic” Onyx Black leather interior with Silver Piping, a €20,000 specification utilizing naturally grained leather designed to develop a distinctive patina over time. It is also equipped with Lightweight Bucket Seats featuring firmer cushioning and a Front Axle Lift System.
What truly defines this example, however, is its inclusion of the coveted Weissach Package. Costing €60,000 when new, the package reduced overall mass by 41 kilograms through the use of lightweight magnesium wheels, titanium chassis components, additional carbon-fiber elements, and the deletion of select comfort features.
The result was a sharper, more focused driving experience directly influenced by Porsche’s motorsport engineering expertise and immortalized by the model’s groundbreaking 6:57 Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record.
At the heart of the 918 Spyder lies a race-derived naturally aspirated 4.6-liter V8 paired with dual electric motors, generating a combined 887 horsepower and 944 lb-ft of torque through Porsche’s seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. Derived from the RS Spyder Le Mans prototype program, the powertrain remains one of the defining hybrid systems of the modern hypercar era.
This single-owner example has covered fewer than 8,826 kilometers since delivery through Porsche Zentrum Stuttgart. Retaining its original books, charging equipment, and recent May 2025 service documentation from Centro Porsche Madrid Norte, the car stands as one of the finest and most comprehensively specified 918 Spyders ever offered publicly.
