Final Countdown To Luft 12

Just a few weeks remain until Luftgekühlt 12 arrives at Town at Trilith in Fayetteville, Georgia, on Saturday, October 10, the final countdown is underway. Tickets are on sale for Luftgekühlt’s Atlanta-area debut, which will feature Hall of Fame racing driver and broadcaster Tommy Kendall as official host and spotlight significant road and racing Porsches from across the air-cooled era.

“With one month to go, you can really begin to feel the event taking shape,” says Luftgekühlt and Air|Water Founder Patrick Long. “Luft has always been about more than assembling important cars. It is about finding new ways to share their stories and creating an environment where the people, history, art, and culture surrounding them can come together. Town at Trilith gives us an entirely new canvas, and with Tommy Kendall joining us as host, we are excited for everyone to experience what we have planned for Atlanta.”

The countdown follows a standout Monterey Car Week for Long, who competed across five classes and earned first-place finishes in Groups 7 and 9 at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. Among the historically significant cars he drove were the air-cooled Jägermeister Porsche 962 C-117 and Porsche 935 K4, setting the stage for Luftgekühlt’s next celebration of Porsche motorsport, heritage and community.

Same Spirit, New Vibe

I asked Patrick what he’s really excited about specifically with Luft 12.

“Every venue is unique, and this will be the first time we hold Luft in a residential area of the U.S. Normally we are in urban areas, but for Luft 12, we’re kind of taking over the entire town of Trilith, Georgia. There are so many little cavities in this space…movie theatres, a brewery etc. This venue will lend itself to the theme of “discovery” which is what we always try to promote for our attendees.”

Event Host: Tommy Kendall. He became the youngest IMSA champion in history in 1986 and went on to earn multiple IMSA titles and four Trans Am championships. His dominant 1997 season included 11 consecutive victories, and in 2000, “TK,” as he is known, piloted a Porsche 993 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
