Singer Vehicle Design didn’t invent the idea of restoring an old Porsche 911. It simply changed what people thought was possible.
From its home in Torrance, California, Singer built its reputation by taking Porsche’s 964-generation 911 and reimagining it with an obsessive level of engineering, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. When the company brought its first completed car to Monterey Car Week, the response was immediate. Here was a familiar air-cooled 911, but sharper, faster, more meticulously constructed—and seemingly perfected without losing the character that made the original so compelling.
The orders followed. What began as an audacious interpretation of the classic 911 developed into a years-long waiting list, with Singer’s naturally aspirated restorations becoming some of the most coveted Porsche-based machines of the modern era.
Then came the Dynamics and Lightweighting Study, or DLS. Developed with Williams Advanced Engineering, it pushed Singer’s formula into more exotic territory, using carbon fiber, magnesium, and titanium in the pursuit of reduced mass and greater performance. At its heart was a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six producing roughly 500 horsepower—a remarkable figure for an engine that achieved its performance without turbocharging.
But there was one conspicuous chapter of 911 history Singer had yet to revisit: the Turbo. That changed in 2022.
With the Turbo Study, Singer turned its attention to the Porsche 930, the wide-bodied, whale-tailed 911 that helped define the word “Turbo” for an entire generation of enthusiasts. Rather than simply recreating the notoriously demanding original, Singer applied its familiar philosophy to the concept—preserving the attitude while thoroughly reengineering what lay beneath it.
Highlights
- Singer “Turbo Study” honors the Porsche 930 Turbo unveiled in 1975
- New and recently completed example. 89 miles!
- Optioned with 503hp, 400 lb-ft of torque – 3.8L twin-turbo air-to-water intercooled flat six engine
- 6-speed manual transmission
- Optioned with Brembo carbon ceramic brakes
- Optioned with front axle lift
- Complete full body paint protection film (PPF)
- Lightweight bespoke carbon fiber body panels
- Turbo Exclusive “Wolf Blue” metallic paint, heritage-inspired Bone leather interior
This particular example wears Turbo Exclusive Wolf Blue metallic, the same striking shade chosen for the car that introduced Singer’s Turbo Study to the world. Bone leather fills the cabin, providing a restrained contrast to the blue bodywork and its unmistakably muscular proportions.
The specification gets more interesting beneath the surface. Although configured with the Touring treatment, this car receives the higher-output engine specification: a 3.8-liter, twin-turbocharged flat-six producing 503 horsepower. Air-to-water intercooling helps manage temperatures, while a six-speed manual transmission sends everything to the rear wheels.
No all-wheel drive. No dual-clutch gearbox. Just 503 horsepower, three pedals, and two driven wheels.
Inside, Singer’s heritage seats deliberately recall those of the original 930 Turbo, another reminder that the car’s connection to the past extends beyond its silhouette. Yet this is hardly an exercise in nostalgia. The materials, engineering, and execution belong to a different era entirely.

It looks backward without being trapped there—and with 503 turbocharged horsepower headed exclusively to the rear tires through a six-speed manual, it certainly hasn’t forgotten how to make things interesting.

This Singer Classic Turbo is a testament to Singer’s driven focus on making some of the most intriguing and tasteful recommissions of Porsche vehicles. With beautiful elegant designs that not only pay homage to the original historic cars but also drawn from Singer’s own design language, this 3.8L twin-turbo flat six Singer Classic Turbo – Touring is ready to be enjoyed to the fullest.

About the Singer Classic Turbo
With the reveal of Singer’s Classic Turbo, a new era of recommissions was about to begin. With customers stating that they wanted more power, but also a new style of body, it was clear to Singer that a homage to the 930, with its wide rear fenders and turbocharged air-cooled engine, was the answer. The same Singer “Everything Is Important” mantra is still present throughout the vehicle, but this new generation was redesigned from the ground up. Singer wanted to take the Turbo Classic to the next level, both from a design perspective but also reliability. They required a bespoke Bosch traction management system that required Singer to send an entire vehicle to be tested in wet, dry, snow, and other traction conditions. Singer wanted to be approved by TÜV, where a car was sent to Germany to be driven approximately 3,000 kilometers to pass the certification that it was safe for German (and later, European) roads. All in the quest of improving their commissions.

The Turbo Classic’s body panels are made from lightweight carbon fiber, including the wide rear wheel arches that famously displayed the “shark fin”, now cleverly disguised as air intakes for the newly-developed engine. Singer’s new 3.8L twin-turbocharged engine with air-to-water intercooling, now creating 450 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. Utilizing Porsche 992 turbochargers with updated technology including variable veins, this allowed for Singer to tune the vehicle to drive exceptionally well with plenty of power, but was sure to include some of the nostalgic “turbo lag” that was so indicative of the original 930. Paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, the Turbo Classic could be specified in either Touring or Sport configurations which brought different options for each. The Touring specification included a more compliant ride better suited for longer drives, along with seats that clearly show the 930’s heritage in a more modern design. The Sport gained an extra 53 horsepower, along with lightweight carbon fiber seats, carbon ceramic brakes, lightweight door trim, sports-calibrated suspension, and more. Fit and finishes are exactly what you would expect, from jewel-like instruments to ergonomically thought-out interior functions and elegant touch points, to the tasteful exterior updates and integrations that a keen eye will catch and appreciate the callbacks to the original Porsche Turbo.
The current Singer waitlist is approximately 4 to 5 years for a new commission. This Classic Turbo represents a rare opportunity to take delivery without waiting.
