Offered for sale on Bring a Trailer with only 1,900 miles, this 2016 Porsche 911 R is number 715 of the 991 examples produced during the model’s single-year production run. Conceived as a modern interpretation of the legendary 1967 911 R homologation special, the limited-production model combined the driving purity of the 911 GT3 with lightweight construction techniques derived from the more track-focused GT3 RS.
Finished in White with signature Red center stripes and Black Porsche side graphics, the car features a host of lightweight exterior components, including a magnesium roof, carbon-fiber hood, front fenders, and rear deck lid, along with a model-specific front splitter, retractable rear spoiler, aluminum engine grille, and carbon-fiber SportDesign mirror caps. Black LED headlights equipped with the Porsche Dynamic Lighting System (PDLS) further distinguish the exterior.
The 911 R rides on 20-inch center-lock GT3 alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Its chassis borrows the GT3’s rear-axle steering and adjustable suspension but benefits from calibration unique to the 911 R for a more engaging road-focused character. Braking is handled by Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) with yellow six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers, while the optional front-axle lift system helps clear steep driveways and speed bumps.
Inside, the cabin is upholstered in Black leather with GT Silver stitching, matching seat belts, embroidered headrests, and door pull loops. The 18-way Adaptive Sport Seats Plus are complemented by optional illuminated carbon-fiber door sill guards, a leather-covered steering column, and the Light Design Package, blending premium craftsmanship with purposeful simplicity. Ahead of the driver, the leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 225-mph speedometer, central tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for vital engine functions.
Power comes from the celebrated naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six shared with the contemporary GT3 RS, producing 500 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. Paired exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential with Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV), a dual-mass flywheel, and a factory Sport Exhaust, the drivetrain delivers one of the purest analog driving experiences of the modern 911 era.
