Chris Harris reviews the Porsche 992.1 GT3 Touring, the wingless version of the GT3, fitted here with a manual gearbox. Although mechanically similar to the standard GT3, the Touring’s subtler styling gives it a more understated appearance.
The ride is firm, as expected, and slightly harsher than the previous 991 Touring at low speeds. However, once moving, the newer car feels more stable and composed, with improved damping and less body movement. Harris notes that the seating position is higher and the seats provide less support than in the 991, reducing comfort around town.
At speed, the chassis feels sharper and more sophisticated, with precise steering and better front-end control. The updated interior is more modern and better equipped, though it sacrifices some of the analog feel of the older car.
The engine sounds more intense inside the cabin, and despite only a small power increase, the car feels quicker overall. While the 992 Touring is more refined and technically improved, it’s slightly less raw than the 991. Even so, Harris considers it a highly engaging driver’s car and a fitting celebration of the manual, naturally aspirated sports car.
