As part of its 70th anniversary celebrations, Porsche revealed a 991 Speedster concept at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. The production version debuted at the New York Auto Show in April 2019, with deliveries beginning the following month. It holds particular historical importance as the final variant of the 991 generation, with production capped at 1,948 units—a nod to the year Porsche began manufacturing automobiles.
True to Speedster tradition, the 991 version features the signature twin “camel hump” rear cowlings behind the seats, along with numerous model-specific details. Weight-saving measures include carbon-fiber front fenders and a hood shared with the 911 R, as well as a carbon-fiber tonneau cover that stows when the fabric roof is removed.
A GT3-style rear bumper is paired with Speedster-exclusive front air intakes and a unique lower front spoiler. Standard equipment also includes a leather-trimmed interior with perforated seats, red-tinted daytime running lights, stone guards, a titanium exhaust system, and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes.
Offered for sale on Bring a Trailer, this 2019 Porsche 911 Speedster is number 1,756 of the 1,948 produced. It was originally ordered by the current owner with more than $84,000 in factory options. The car is finished in custom-order Meissen Blue—a non-metallic color costing $12,830—over a Black leather interior with nearly $53,000 in bespoke detailing, highlighted by a Bordeaux Red dashboard and door panels.
Center-lock 20-inch forged alloy wheels are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, while braking is handled by cross-drilled PCCB rotors with Porsche-branded calipers. Standard chassis features include Porsche Active Suspension Management, Porsche Stability Management, and rear-axle steering, with this example additionally equipped with a front-axle lift system.
Power comes from a naturally aspirated, GT3-derived 4.0-liter flat-six paired with a six-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. Updated specifically for the Speedster with revised individual throttle bodies and high-pressure fuel injectors, the engine produces a factory-rated 502 horsepower and 346 lb-ft of torque. An extended-range fuel tank rounds out the mechanical package.
