This PistonHeads review covers the Porsche 981 Cayman GT4 Clubsport and its MR variant, showing how the GT4 road car evolves into a race-ready machine. Starting with the standard Cayman GT4 road car, he highlights its 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine, manual gearbox, adjustable anti-roll bars, and GT3-derived suspension—features that already make it track-capable and engaging. The road car delivers raw, fun handling but shows some understeer in slower corners.

The GT4 Clubsport is a fully race-prepared car, around 40 kg lighter, with steel brakes, KW dampers, a paddle-operated six-speed PDK gearbox, and 18-inch slicks. These changes make it more planted and predictable while remaining approachable for gentleman racers. Stability control and a 12-mode ABS system provide safety and adjustability, and the PDK gearbox allows smooth, precise shifts even under heavy braking.

The top-tier GT4 Clubsport MR adds further refinements for Nürburgring-style racing: advanced KW suspension with broader adjustability, lightweight Perspex panels, and five-stud hubs. The MR package offers a softer yet more composed ride over bumps, allowing earlier acceleration out of corners, though the brakes require more pedal effort.
