The new Porsche 911 Turbo S (992.2) has officially arrived, and as expected, it’s blisteringly quick. Porsche has turned the dial far past eleven: 701 horsepower, 590 lb-ft of torque, and a 0–60 time of just 2.4 seconds.

That’s two-tenths quicker than its predecessor, and Porsche even claims the run was achieved with a passenger and luggage onboard. Flat out, it charges to 124 mph in 8.4 seconds and will cover the quarter mile in under 10 seconds. Around the Nürburgring, it clocked just over 7:03 with Jörg Bergmeister at the wheel—on street tires.

The performance comes from T-Hybrid technology, with a 400-volt battery in the frunk, an electric motor in the gearbox, and twin electrically assisted turbos. This setup eliminates lag, uses regeneration from both braking and the turbos, and ensures consistent performance on track.

It also powers the car’s PDCC system, rear steering, and active sway bars. Upgrades include 10-piston calipers, larger brakes, and wider rear tires. Of course, capability comes at a cost: the 992.2 Turbo S starts at over $260,000, and fully optioned, expect the price to be closer to $300,000.

But this story isn’t just about the latest model—it’s about how it got here. So, we have the folks from savagegeese to tell us about the history of the Porsche 911 Turbo and how it evolved over the decades. Check out the video below for a full breakdown.
