Current Porsche Taycan (Base) Black Edition – Ultimate Guide
Porsche’s Taycan has long stood as one of the defining electric sports sedans of its generation, blending the brand’s performance heritage with cutting-edge EV tech. With the introduction of the Taycan Black Edition variants, Porsche has taken that recipe and sharpened both its visual and equipment appeal, giving three distinct versions — the Base Black Edition, Taycan 4 Black Edition, and Taycan 4S Black Edition — a stealthy, more complete package straight from the factory.
At its core, the Taycan Black Edition is more than just cosmetic flair. All Black Edition models come equipped with Porsche’s Performance Battery Plus — a larger battery that boosts range and energy capacity compared to the standard pack. That means drivers get more usable range without having to tick an option box, alongside an enhanced list of standard tech and comfort features normally reserved for pricey options. Black exterior accents, gloss black trim, HD-Matrix LED headlights, and 21-inch wheels give the Black Edition a purposefully dark, cohesive look that feels more expensive than its price tag suggests.
The base Black Edition Taycan retains the rear-wheel drive layout that defines Porsche’s entry-level electric sedan, but thanks to the Performance Battery Plus it now makes around 429 hp and delivers significantly improved range over the non-Black Edition equivalent. This model’s focus is on pure electric driving enjoyment and sophistication, with Porsche Electric Sport Sound adding character to every drive.
The rear-wheel-drive Taycan Black Edition serves as the foundational model of the series, combining a traditional sports car feel with modern luxury. Because the Performance Battery Plus comes standard, its output is boosted to 429 hp, allowing it to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. This variant starts at approximately $120,600, which includes premium upgrades like the SportDesign package, high-gloss black window trims, and a black interior accent package that would cost significantly more if optioned individually. It provides an EPA-estimated range of roughly 318 miles, making it an ideal choice for drivers who prioritize distance and style over raw speed.
