This 1995 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.8 Clubsport is one of the 227 examples created. According to its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, it was completed on November 29th, 1995. The RS 3.8 Clubsport’s first known residence was in Japan, evidenced by multiple service records available in its maintenance booklet and invoices from noted Prestige Motorsport in Tokyo. The car was later imported to North America, where it was serviced by JB Motorsports in Vancouver in 2013, and later by Riegel Tuning in Alberta in 2014. In 2017 the RS 3.8 Clubsport was acquired by its most recent owner in August of 2017. In 2021, the RS 3.8 Clubsport was treated to extensive mechanical servicing at Canepa.

Upon arriving at Canepa, the RS 3.8 Clubsport was given a thorough mechanical and cosmetic inspection. Given that the car had a major mechanical service in 2021 with 95 miles over the past 8 years, the Clubsport was in excellent condition. Nonetheless, every car is put through the “Canepa Difference” process to ensure that every checkbox was ticked. The RS was given a complete concours-level detail, including a multi-stage foam pad polish to enhance the original Speed Yellow paint.

The race-inspired interior was cleaned from top to bottom, ensuring that it was quite possibly cleaner than when it rolled off the factory assembly line. Included with this 993 Carrera RS 3.8 Clubsport are its original owners manuals and service booklets in its leather pouch, original tool roll, jack, spare wheel/tire, service invoices, and a copy of the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

One of the most sought-after 993 variants of all time and of all air-cooled Porsches, the Porsche 993 Carrera RS 3.8 Clubsport is truly one of the all-time greats. With an unmatched analog driving experience, produced in extremely limited numbers, and with only 19,616 original miles but in the same condition that another car with 1/10th the miles, this Carrera RS 3.8 Clubsport is calling out to be driven and enjoyed, or to be a shining jewel amongst an automotive collection.

About the 993 Carrera RS 3.8 Clubsport

Porsche is no stranger to the phrase “less is more”, with a history of removing components and luxuries down to the bare minimum in the quest for ultimate driving performance. While the 993 Carrera RS already marked a noticeable upgrade over the more pedestrian Carreras, with its 3.8L engine, 6-speed manual transmission, and lightweight improvements, Porsche wanted to create something more. Enter the final air-cooled iteration of the 993 to wear the coveted RS name which now is one of the most sought-after air-cooled cars in the world: the 993 Carrera RS 3.8 Clubsport.

Created in an extremely limited quantity, only 227 examples of the Carrera RS 3.8 Clubsport were created by Porsche in the effort of blurring the line between street car and race car, to the point where that line may as well have been blended together. Starting with the already focused 993 Carrera RS, the Carrera RS 3.8 Clubsport reduced its curb weight down to a feather-like 2,770 lbs. Beginning with an RS seam welded shell, the interior is given a strict diet down to its essentials, removing almost all carpeting, sound deadening, power window motors, anything else unnecessary, and adding painted Recaro hardback seats and racing harnesses with a welded-in roll cage. With only the bare necessities left, like a steering wheel, pedals, gauges, shifter, and a few other items, the 3.8 Clubsport feels like a bonafide race car.

The RS 3.8 Clubsport was upgraded with a larger rear wing, a deeper chin spoiler, integrated air intakes within the wing struts, an adjustable wing element, and a more aggressive front spoiler. These noticeable differences differentiate the RS 3.8 Clubsport from the regular Carrera RS. Adjustable suspension was integrated, 18”, 3-piece Speedline wheels, upgraded brakes, and using the upgraded 3.8L aircooled engine producing 300 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, mated to a close-ration 6-speed manual transmission. A single-mass flywheel enables quick engine revs for faster shifting and an incredible sound. The result is a Porsche with an unmatching driving experience, a true visceral adventure from the engineers at Porsche whose only goal was to blur the line between street and race car.
