FOR SALE: 2016 Porsche 911 R

Number 284 of just 991 examples produced worldwide

The Porsche 911 R, unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, was a limited-edition model built for purists. It used the GT3 RS’s 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six, producing 500 horsepower, paired exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox. A lightweight single-mass flywheel and titanium exhaust sharpen response.

Carbon fiber panels, a magnesium roof, and additional weight-saving measures drop kerb weight to 1,370 kg—about 50 kg lighter than the GT3 RS. The car features carbon ceramic brakes, rear-wheel steering, and adjustable suspension. Instead of the GT3’s wing, it uses a subtler rear diffuser. To further reduce weight, air conditioning and audio were optional deletions.

Now listed on Bring a Trailer, this Porsche 911 R is chassis number 284 of just 991 produced worldwide and comes from the Gruppe P collection by Bond Group and Road Scholars. It remains in factory-original condition, showing only 4,500 miles on the odometer.

Finished in White with red stripes and black side graphics, the car is equipped with bi-xenon headlights, fog lights, and a speed-activated rear spoiler. Its 20″ GT3 center-lock alloy wheels were fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.

Like the GT3 of its era, the 911 R features adjustable suspension and rear-axle steering, although it is specifically tuned for this model. Braking is handled by yellow six- and four-piston monobloc calipers paired with ceramic-composite rotors, while the optional front axle lift provides clearance over obstacles.

Inside, the Black Leather cabin features carbon-fiber full bucket seats with Pepita cloth inserts and GT Silver stitching. Comfort and convenience are enhanced by air conditioning, cruise control, and PCM infotainment with navigation.
