Founded by brothers Erwin and Manfred Kremer in Cologne, Germany, Kremer Racing is among the world’s preeminent Porsche tuners, renowned for their highly successful modified Porsche 935 Group 5 race cars. Following a 935 Kremer Type 3’s (K3) victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1979, the company offered a road-legal K3 “Street” conversion based on the 930 Turbo for the most discerning driving enthusiasts.
This 1984 Porsche 930 Turbo Group 5 Street 2 conversion was custom ordered by Dr. Frank Paletta in 1983 as a collaboration between DP Motorsports and Kremer Racing, and is documented as the first of its series to have been constructed. It features 935-style fiberglass and Kevlar composite bodywork, a revised 4-speed manual transaxle, and a reworked 3.3-liter flat-six engine with an upgraded turbocharger, camshafts, and an enlarged intercooler.
The car has also been modified with 917-sourced brakes, an adjustable coilover suspension, a Fabspeed 930 performance package, an upgraded sound system, Recaro seats, a leather-wrapped roll bar, an LED boost gauge, and custom BBS wheels. The car was sold to its second owner in 2007 and remained under their care until the seller’s acquisition in 2023. It has since undergone a major service, including new valve covers, ignition components, fuel pumps, wheel bearings, and suspension.
Suggested by some sources to be one of fewer than 10 Kremer Group 5 Street 2 conversions produced in total, this incredibly rare and highly collectible 911 Turbo is now being offered for auction out of Florida.
