One year after claiming the Rookie title, Flynt Schuring has taken the next step, securing the overall Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup championship with victory in the penultimate race of the season at Zandvoort.
The Porsche Junior from the Netherlands led a Dutch sweep of the podium, finishing ahead of compatriots Jaap van Lagen and Robert de Haan. The result settled the drivers’ championship with one race remaining, leaving the Rookie and Teams’ titles to be decided when the international one-make series concludes its season at Monza in northern Italy in two weeks.
Schuring started the second race of the Zandvoort weekend from second on the grid in his Schumacher CLRT Porsche, initially slotting in behind polesitter van Lagen of Martinet by Alméras. The order remained unchanged until shortly after a safety car period, when van Lagen made a minor mistake and opened the door for Schuring.
The championship leader immediately took advantage, making what proved to be the decisive pass. Once in front, Schuring quickly established control of the race and steadily pulled clear of the chasing field. After 17 laps of the 4.259-kilometer Formula 1 circuit, he crossed the line with a lead of just under seven seconds.
Van Lagen held on to second, while de Haan, Schuring’s closest championship rival, finished third. The result ended the BWT Lechner Racing driver’s hopes of taking the title fight to the season finale at Monza.
The finishing order behind the podium changed after the race. Theo Oeverhaus of Martinet by Alméras and Team GP Elite’s Wouter Boerekamps, who had originally finished fourth and fifth respectively, were handed time penalties and dropped down the classification.
Their penalties promoted Jack Young to fourth overall and delivered the Target driver his first Rookie victory. The Briton finished ahead of fellow countryman Liam McNeilly of Ombra Racing and Brazil’s Matheus Ferreira of Team GP Elite. Schumacher CLRT’s Chester Kieffer of Luxembourg retains the lead in the Supercup Rookie championship heading into the finale.
Marcus Amand, the second Porsche Junior in the field, spent much of the race among the chasing group. The BWT Lechner Racing driver’s challenge faded in the closing stages, however, after a spin dropped him down the order.
Jacques Villeneuve’s season as a guest driver in the Supercup also came to an end at Zandvoort. The 1997 Formula 1 World Champion contested six races in the No. 911 VIP car fielded by Porsche Motorsport, which carried a design inspired by the Canadian’s iconic helmet.
“The level in the Supercup is very high. I struggled in qualifying and therefore always had to start from the back of the grid. My pace in the races was good – but by then it was too late. The Supercup family gave me an extremely warm welcome. I really enjoyed this season,” Villeneuve summarized.
Schuring’s victory was his third in seven races this season and completed his progression from Rookie champion to overall Supercup champion in the space of a year.

The final race of the season will take place at Monza as part of the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix weekend. From 4–6 September 2026, the remaining Rookie and Teams’ championships will be decided.
