Porsche 997 Turbo (Gen.1)

It could be argued that in the year 2007, the world changed. First up, the original Apple iPhone was released, marking the start of the modern smartphone era. Another major milestone, or perhaps it was a bombshell, was the publication of the book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the epic seventh and final novel in the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling. But a third significant highlight, in June that year, was the launch of the new Porsche 997 Turbo (Generation 1). The newcomer had been announced at the previous year’s Geneva Motor Show, but as is Porsche’s tradition, new models are introduced in the summer for the following year.

What Was The 997 Turbo Gen.1

The Porsche 997 was the sixth generation of the Porsche 911 family, launched in 2004. Essentially, the 997 was an evolution of the preceding 996, with significant changes and improvements. However, the 997 model was launched without a Turbo in the lineup; the Turbo debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in February 2006, with deliveries commencing in late 2006.
