Joe Achilles reviews the facelifted 992.2 Porsche 911 Carrera, highlighting subtle updates to the base model. Visual and mechanical changes are minimal, but the car benefits from larger turbochargers borrowed from the previous GTS.
Output remains at 394 hp and 450 Nm, paired exclusively with an 8-speed PDK driving the rear wheels. With Sport Chrono, 0–62 mph takes about 3.9 seconds and top speed is 183 mph. Inside, the biggest changes are the new push-button starter and a fully digital instrument cluster, replacing the traditional analog tachometer. While more configurable, the loss of classic 911 details is noticeable.
On the road, the base Carrera feels quick and responsive, with strong midrange torque and a smooth, fast-shifting PDK. It’s comfortable and efficient at highway speeds yet still engaging on twisty roads. Achilles argues the base Carrera remains the sweet spot of the range—fast enough for real roads without the excess power or cost of higher trims—making it one of the most complete everyday sports cars in the lineup.
