AutoTopNL reviews the limited-edition 997.2-based Porsche 911 Sport Classic on wet mountain roads and the Autobahn. Only 250 customer cars were built, plus a handful of factory examples, making it one of the rarest modern 911s.
This car features the X51 Powerkit, raising output from 385 to 408 hp and extending redline to 7,400 rpm. Unique elements include the double-bubble roof, ducktail spoiler, widebody rear-wheel-drive layout, bespoke interior trim, short-shift manual gearbox, special exhaust, and Porsche Exclusive details.
On the road, the 3.8-liter flat-six delivers smooth, linear performance with strong intake sound but no artificial pops or bangs. The hydraulic steering and manual gearbox provide an engaging, analog feel, sitting between the raw 996 and the more modern 991 generations. Despite wet conditions, the car feels light and responsive.
On the Autobahn, acceleration is strong for a 408-hp manual, with impressive mid-range pull and powerful carbon-ceramic brakes. High-speed stability is less planted than a 991, reinforcing its classic 911 character. The reviewer concludes that the Sport Classic represents “peak 911,” blending heritage styling, usability, and engaging performance into a highly desirable package.
