Theon Design restores and modernizes Porsche 964s with a focus on mechanical clarity and build quality rather than performance statistics or digital features. Each project starts with a donor 964 that is fully stripped, repaired, and rebuilt. Bodywork can be specified in steel or carbon fiber. Panels such as the wheel arches, sidelights, bumpers, and bonnet are subtly redesigned for cleaner proportions and improved fit. Headlights and exterior components are updated for modern function.

Engines range from a revised 3.6-liter flat-six to a 4.0-liter unit producing just over 400 hp, with optional supercharging. Ancillaries—including air-conditioning, power steering, and ABS—are relocated beneath the floor to improve weight distribution and keep the engine bay clean. Equal-length headers and a switchable exhaust system are standard. The suspension uses adjustable Multimatic dampers, and wheels are Foost-style three-piece split rims with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

The interior follows an “OEM Plus” philosophy. It retains the 964’s analog gauge layout but uses modern materials such as leather, Alcantara, and carbon fiber. Aluminum switchgear replaces factory plastics. Recaro seats, improved air conditioning, wireless phone charging, and updated controls are integrated without altering the basic architecture.

Rory Reid of Autotrader tests the modified 964 to answer three questions: is it worth £750,000, is it the ultimate version of the classic, and does it possess something missing in modern sports cars?
