What It’s Like to Finally Drive a Reimagined 911 by Singer

Matt Farah—host of TheSmokingTire YouTube channel— finally got seat time in a reimagined 911 known as the Fuji Commission

Few dispute the Porsche 911’s status as the ultimate sports car, having evolved continuously for over 60 years—from its original 2.0-liter coupe to today’s high-performance variants. Still, Los Angeles musician and Porsche fan Rob Dickinson believed there was more potential. In 2009, he founded Singer, transforming the air-cooled 964 into a reimagined version of the 911.

Singer’s “Classic” services became legendary, and the introduction of the “Classic Turbo” continued this legacy. Inspired by the iconic 930 Turbo, the program debuted in 2022 after years of development. Using the 964 as its foundation, Singer integrates lightweight composites, custom parts, and subtle design cues honoring the original 930. Power comes from a 3.8-liter twin-turbo Mezger engine producing over 500 bhp, with a 6-speed manual and custom suspension.

For over 16 years, Matt Farah—host of TheSmokingTire YouTube channel—dreamed of driving a car reimagined by Singer Vehicle Design. In their latest video, that dream came true when he finally got seat time in a reimagined 911 known as the Fuji Commission. Join him as he explores the car and discovers firsthand why enthusiasts are willing to wait years and spend millions to own one.
