Canepa Stage One 959
600hp, 540 ft/lbs
CA Smog Legal - one of about 20 ever certified
959S Suspension
Rare, special order black factory interior
The revolutionary all-wheel-drive Porsche 959 was by far the most technologically advanced sports car of its day. Porsche built only 292 of these supercars and their timeless design, state-of-the-art systems, and superior driving characteristics make them one of the greatest cars of all time.

In the '90s Canepa was instrumental in the passing of the Show and Display legislation that allowed these vehicles to be imported and driven in the Unites States. Knowing these amazing cars would soon be legal, Canepa began the extensive engineering and development required to modifying the 959 to meet EPA and California emissions standards. Its well known that meeting emissions standards takes a toll on performance, so Canepa engineers, along with direct support from the Porsche factory, undertook a program to increase output to the 600hp level Porsche had planned for the 959 if it had stayed in production. Modifications included a new engine management system, Garrett AiResearch twin turbos, redesigned wastegate, an upgraded fuel system, upgrades alternator charge system and battery module, air pumps and air regulator valves, titanium heat shielding, and a redesigned stainless exhaust with Porsche-specific catalytic converters. 369 new components in all.

This particular 959 is quite special. Not only is it one of only 20 California emission legal 959s built by Canepa, but it also has a rare, special order black factory interior. Along with the engine upgrade this 959 has received all the factory recommended upgrades and modifications. The suspension has been upgraded to 959S specifications, including the installation of titanium coilover springs and Bilstein 959S gas struts updated with the latest valving technology. To finish off the package, the factory alloy wheels have been modified to accommodate current-technology Michelin Pilot Sport 245/45/ZR17 front and 275/40 ZR17 rear low profile, speed-rated tires.

Purchased and imported from Japan in September of 2000, all work since its arrival in the US has been performed by Canepa. In past year 00051 received a full and complete mechanical service. The engine was removed and fully serviced, a new clutch/flywheel were installed, the brake system was completely serviced, the air conditioning system was rebuilt, and new Michelin Pilot tires were installed.

This is a rare opportunity to own one of the world's great supercars. Combining the world-class comfort of a touring GT with the jaw dropping performance of modern supercar the 959 is ideally suited to the kind of collector that enjoys driving. 00051 has been fully mechanically and cosmetically serviced, and is ready for show or high-speed enjoyment.
