The 997 GT3 is an absolute jewel. And inside this jewel is another jewel - the high revving normally aspirated 3.6-liter flat-6 producing 415 hp. Remember, this is without turbos! The engine is the proper old-school style heavy-duty machine and not a tuned version of the budget engines used in 911 Carreras and Boxsters. The engine block construction of 997 GT3 is similar to the 964/993 generation cars. The only long-lasting engines in the 997 range are the engines in GT2, GT3 and Turbo. With the Carrera engines Porsche is saving money and we know in many cases where it has led to.
This car has the right metal brake discs and not the high-cost problematic ceramic system.
There is no stability management system for GT3 as this car is for the people who already have learned to drive. It only has the traction control which you can and occasionally want to switch off. The GT3's traction control system is very sporty system, so it will not ruin your laptime and in Sport-mode it intervenes even later.
Press the Sport-button which opens the flaps in the exhaust system and some of your neighbors will start to hate you. But your neighbors' kids will love you. In Sport-mode 25 Nm of additional torque is available in the medium rev range.
As the engine is so high-revving - redline at 8400 rpm - it goes 84 km/h in first gear and 140 km/h in second! So the car can generate you a big fine already in first gear if you forget the traffic rules. And in the driver's seat of this car you will forget anything else in the world. This car is all what we at Sportauto.ee care about. This is life!
